Description:

Can true love be forgotten?
As the only scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.
Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out--a ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies' cry for blood is growing louder.
As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen's sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.
Josephine Angelini's compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding as an unforgettable love triangle emerges and the eternal cycle of revenge intensifies. Eagerly awaited, this sequel to the internationally bestselling "Starcrossed" delivers a gritty, action-packed love story that exceeds all expectations.
When I read Starcrossed, I thought it was an interesting read and a good first book of a new series. I love mythology so I found the plot intriguing and quite original: in addition to that, there wasn't the horrible love-triangle. Then, I read Dreamless, and the triangle made its appearance. I think it's not easy to write a believable love triangle and the one between Orion-Helen-Lucas is, for me, really unbelievable. There's no story, Helen and Lucas will be together, there's no opportunity for Orion. It's impossible.

This isn't the only thing that made me like Dreamless less than Starcrossed. Helen in this book sometimes acts in irrational ways and the solution of the "Underworld problem" is really too easy. I don't want to spoiler: for those who read the book, I refer to the way in which Helen travels between the locations of the Underworld in the second part of the book.

On the other side, I really liked the descriptions of the Underworld and the characters of Cassandra and Ares, non to mention the explosive ending.

Angelini's writing style is really simple, clean and charming: you cannot put the book down even if you don't really love it.

In conclusion, Dreamless is a quick read, perfect for the beach. There are some good ideas, but they are not too much and appropiately developed. I recommend it to the readers who enjoyed the first book in this series, Starcrossed.  Let's hope for a better third book:)
